THE Libyan African Investment Company Zambia Limited (LAICO),  owners of Millennium Village Complex, has invested more than K6 million in the facility to contribute to Zambia’s economy.
The Millennium Village Complex comprises 51 top-of-the-range villas, as well as a host of other incredible benefits available to tenants.
LAICO Zambia managing director Shukri Esidieg  Eljaiedi said the company was further expected to contribute about K2 million to the Government this year through payment of various taxes.
Mr Eljaiedi said the company was discussing modalities and investment options with local authorities as one way of advancing its investments in the country.
The construction sector has seen increased growth and the company plans to put up a mixed-use upmarket shopping complex that would house banks, supermarkets, indoor sports facilities and restaurants, among others.
Mr Eljaiedi said in an interview that LAICO had created employment opportunities for the local people and that through their establishment, business opportunities and entrepreneurships had been promoted to spur growth in the business sector.
“We have running contracts with garbage collecting companies, property maintenance, security, auditing and information technology sections of our business,” he said.
Mr Eljaiedi said plans were also underway to set up a park for tenants at the Millennium Village Complex.
In 2001, Libya, in collaboration with Zambia, commenced the construction of a conference centre and lodging facilities which saw the construction of the Millennium Village.
