LUSAKA City Council (LCC) and Kitwe United at the weekend ascended to the summit of their respective Division One league tables after recording impressive wins to haul maximum points from their matches.
ZNS Lwanfumu 1 Kitwe 2
In the Zone One, Kitwe United went two points clear after this win over the Zambia National Service’s Lwanfumu side at Kaole stadium in Mansa with the home side scoring first through Arnold Chipeta.
But two quick, second half goals from Andrew Tembo and Emmanuel Chabule, helped the Chingalika Boys to collect three points that pushed them to six points, two clear of second placed Roan United, Bresmar and Zesco Solwezi, who settled for draws in their respective  matches.
Bresmar 1 Kalulushi 1
In Solwezi, Bresmar United failed to utilise a home ground advantage as they allowed Kalulushi Modern Stars to salvage their first point of the season with Roan United also drawing away to Ndola United in a match played at Musa Kasonka stadium.
Chambishi 3 FQMO 0
From Kalulushi, Chambishi picked up their first win and it was an emphatic one over First Quantum Minerals Operations with double goals from Gift Musa in the 20th and 38th before Ernest Mwelwa added a third with an 80th minute volley.
In other matches, at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe, Konkola Blades edged Copperbelt Buffaloes 2-1 to recover from an opening week loss to Roan United, while Indeni effectively erased their Week-One loss to Zesco Solwezi by beating visiting Chingola Police 1-0.
Mining Rangers drew 0-0 against Zesco Solwezi just as Kansanshi Dynamos did against Gomes.
LCC 2 Panza Chiefs 0
In Zone-Two, LCC seem to have started the 2016 season on sound footing, registering two straight wins to move to six points on the FAZ-MTN Division-One Zone-One log.
The Chris ‘Gaza’ Tembo-tutored side scored through kiddy Siame nn the stroke of half time with new signee from Zesco Malaiti, Ernest Mutale increasing the goal tally to 2-0 five minutes later, to sink the Eastern Province side.
From the Eastern Province, Petauke United held City of Lusaka to a 1-1 draw to leave City in third place with four points.
New comers in Division-One, Happy Hearts Academy of Chilenje came off with a barren draw against Young Green Buffaloes, which was a decent recovery from last week’s 2-1 loss to LCC.
Assembly 1 Police College 1
National Assembly had something to smile about in the Week-Two fixture as they went away with a win that kept them in joint second position.
Paramilitary bashed early pace setters Nampundwe 2-0 while Lundazi were given free points by Kufue Celtic who failed to travel to Lundazi, the same joy Matero United had after Slamu United stayed home.
