SOUTH African hip hop wonder boy Cassper Nyovest is expected to be the headline act at the 2016 Mosi Day of Thunder to be held in Livingstone on April 30.
The Doc Shebeleza hit maker is anticipated to enthrall attendees who will be having a hangover after witnessing the Mosi Zambia Music Awards (ZMA) to be held on April 28 in Lusaka.
Born Refiloe Maele Phoolo but better known as Cassper Nyovest, the 25-year old is a South African recording artist and record producer whose debut album Tsholofelo was released on July 18th 2014.
His Zambian fan base will be expected to get on their knees with Cassper’s latest single titled Super Ex (Power Couple) which he has just added to his catalogue of good songs.
The song, explains how a pair decides to separate and go different parts, individually. Not the best you can expect from Casper Nyovest but it is worth one’s database.
The controversial singer in 2013 released Gusheshe as the first official single from his debut album, Tsholofelo.
The single was well received and playlisted across various radio stations in South Africa and the African continent.
The single was accompanied by a music video which premiered on Vuzu’s V-Entertainment.
After Gusheshe, he released his second single titled Doc Shebeleza that saw him gain major success. The song peaked at number four on South Africa’s official music chart.
The song received positive reviews from the public and other South African acts including Yvonne Chaka Chaka.
However his debut release, Tsholofelo, has remained a top notch project as was number one on the iTunes South African albums chart for two consecutive months before being knocked off by Duncan’s Street Government.
In October 2014, Nyovest was ranked first number on The Hottest MC in Africa list by MTV Base. He was also ranked second on MTV Base’s SA’s Hottest M list with KO at number one.
But Nyovest criticised the list because of DJ Vigilante’s close affiliation with Cashtime Life rapper KO.
He stated that Vigilante should not have been on the ranking panel and showed his discontentment with the list by releasing a song titled, Beef, in which he dissed DJ Vigilante, a.k.a KO.
It quickly sparked controversy after the rapper later apologised to KO for a line on the song.
Away from controversy, Nyovest is credited for his associated acts with American rapper The Game, Nigerian singers D’Banj and Wizkid, Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP) and Riky Rick, among others.
