7 players released from Chipolopolo camp

SEVEN players have been released from the ongoing Chipolopolo camp for them to feature for their clubs in today’s MTN-FAZ rescheduled week-One games.
Meanwhile five Zanaco players who missed Day-One assessment training camp have joined the rest of the team.
The camp was called to assess the progress of locally based players ahead of next month’s engagements in both the COSAFA Senior Challenge and the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea Bissau.
Acting Team Manager Stanley Kaseko said the seven players released are those from Red Arrows and Zesco United.
Arrows takes on Nakambala Leopards at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka while Zesco United will be entertaining the boys from Solwezi, Lumwana Radiant this afternoon.
The Arrows players’ released are goalkeeper Danny Munyao, defenders Benedict Chepeshi and Paul Katema together with striker Festus Mbewe.
Those from Zesco are goalkeeper, Jacob Banda, defender Daut Musekwa and attacking-midfielder Cletus Chama.
Kaseko said the assessment camp is expected to end today.
He said all the players called for assessment camp trained hard and that there were so many positives noted.
“The coach has released seven players from camp to enable them take part in the mid-week games. The players released are from Red Arrows and Zesco. The overall training camp has been a success. The players showed real character in this training,” he said.
Meanwhile five Zanaco players have joined the rest of the team after featuring in the game against Mufulira Wanderers on Monday.
The five are goalkeeper Racha Kola, defender George Chilufya and midfielders Salulani Phiri, Isaac Chansa and Charles Zulu.
And SANDRA MWILA reports that the Footballers and Allied Workers Union (FAWUZ) yesterday said it had been joined by former KK11 players.
The legends that have joined the FAWUZ are led by 1974 Zambia team captain Dickson Makwaza and Fred Mwila senior.
Other new members are Peter Mhango, Edward Musonda, Simon ‘Stone’ Chibwe, Richard Stephenson, Simon ‘Kaodi’ Kaushi, Abraham Nkole, Patrick Nkole and Ackim Musenge.
These were members of the 1974 Africa Cup squad that reached the final at first attempt and lost the twice played final to Congo Leopards.
FAWUZ General Secretary Linos Chalwe said in a statement yesterday that the former footballers are appealing to President Edgar Lungu, former president Rupiah Banda and soccer fans to come on board to support them financially and materially through the union.
