ABOUT 200 direct jobs are expected to be created in Kafue District in June this year once Kafue Shopping Mall is opened to the public.
Acting Kafue District Commissioner Ngoni Moyo told the Sunday Times that the mall was being constructed at a cost of about US$4 million and would officially be commissioned next month.
“Kafue will now be an area of economic activity as investors will be coming to invest here. This means creation of jobs for our people,” he said.
Mr Moyo said infrastructure development would upgrade Kafue District’s standards and that of the people living there.
He called on the companies to prioritise employing locals as they had started advertising job vacancies.
He further urged Kafue residents to take good care of the shopping mall as it would help improve their lives through employment creation as well as bringing various goods and services closer to them.
“Pick n’ Pay is already advertising for various positions, so the youths of Kafue should take this opportunity to apply and join in developing the district,” he said.
