CHIPOLOPOLO lost to host Namibia in the Plate final of the Council for Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) played in Windhoek, Namibia yesterday.
Zambia were outplayed in the first half of the match when Namibia reduced Zambia to chasing the game.
Namibia scored their goal in 20th minutes when Ronald Ketjijere struck from the spot which was caused by defender Donashano Malama who handed the ball in the box.
In the ninth minute defender Adrian Chama missed an gilt edge chance but opted to head casually for Namibia goalkeeper Maxi Mbeava to easily collect.
Another chance fell to Zambia in the 25th minute when Patson Daka received the ball from Spencer Sautu’s corner kick but failed to connect before wasting another chance before the break.
Daka was left frustrated that his good performance in the first half failed to produce a goal.
And just a minute after the half time break, striker Festus Mbewe missed an clear chance to equalise when his long range shot went way off target.
Zambia made two changes with midfielder Salulani Phiri coming in for Jacob Ngulube before striker Conlyde Luchanga was introduced for Charles Zulu.
Coach Aggrey Chiyangi said he is not disappointed with the result adding that he is happy with the performance of the team.
Chiyangi said the tournament has given the technical bench an idea on how to tackle the coming matches.
Meanwhile, Namibia coach Ricardo Mannetti described Zambia as a good team adding that he was always getting some extra motivation to push on when whenever playing Zambia.
