KAMWALA Magic yesterday stormed the finals of the Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) Zone Six qualifiers after beating Southern Select 3-0 in the semi-finals played at the UNZA sports Hall.
Magic, who are the tournament favourites, won all their group games and topped the Group A with 12 points to reach the final beating the likes of UNZA 3-0, Nkwazi 3-0 and Flight Spikers 3-0.
This entertaining semi-final saw Magic dominant winning first set via 25-10 and had to recover quickly to stop a Southern Select from claiming the set 25-19 and completed the rout 25-20 in the third set.
Green Buffaloes booked their place in the final after edging Flight Spikers 3-0 with set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-23 to set up a date with Kamwala Magic to be played today.
On the way to reaching the final, Buffaloes beat Southern Select 3-2 and Kitwe Playing Field 3-0.
Meanwhile, the men’s semi-finals were by press time yet to start with ZAVA Open champions Green Eagles expected to play Ndola City while Buffaloes were to play Nkwazi.
Top three teams in the men and women category will earn the right to compete at the 2016 Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone Six Championship to be held in Namibia set for Windhoek in September.
