Zampost in October profit

INCREASE in revenue generation and reduced operational cost has resulted in Zampost recording a profit of about K700,000 in the month of October this year.
The corporation in the month of October this year registered a profit of K681, 000.
Postmaster General McPherson   Chanda said during a press briefing at his office that the profit gain was driven by a 13 per cent increase in revenue generation between September and October   which rose from K7.7 million to K8.7 million.
He said the corporation also reduced its operation cost from K8.3 million to K8 million representing a three per cent reduction.
“Zampost business environment has remained   very competitive, however, through the implementation of various business strategy and initiative, the corporation is registering revenue growth in most of its business which include ,Swift cash, salary payment  service and Post Box rentals,” he said.
Mr Chanda announced that Zampost had slashed the transfer fees for importing vehicles from Japan and United Kingdom by 30 per cent.
He said importers of motor vehicles would now be paying as low as US$25 in transfer fees compared to $40 by competitors.
The Postmaster said swift cash transfer fees had also been reduced by 40 per cent in most price bands.
He said Zampost was re-engineering its post box and letter postal services through the use of internet and Short Messages Systems (SMS) based application.
“These applications have merged the features of real time email communication and physical letters by introducing real time SMS and email notification when ever a holder of post box receives a mail or letter,” he said.
He said by January next year, those who send  letters would be able to track letters on the Zampost website through bar codes.
